Rachel Purvis Working in earthenware and stoneware, her primary passion is the process of making. Submerging her hands in this primal material and shaping and structuring forms old and new is a completely absorbing experience, inducing an almost meditative state. It continues to surprise Rachel that she can produce objects that both actually function and are pleasing to look at and hold.
Jane Upstone Although the landscape will be a frequent starting point, Jane's work aims to capture the experience and feeling of a place rather than a realistic rendition of it. Jane enjoys letting paint build up in many layers, using translucent layers to show traces of the work as it develops. Both drawing and painting are an important part of her practise, with final pieces showing subtle marks as a history of the development of each piece.
