Do you have a treasured but forgotten piece of furniture that needs some love and attention? Would you like to restore and re-use, rather than send to landfill and replace? Mandi Muggeson has been upholstering near Bakewell for the past five years. After working in a very fast-paced industry for many years, she retrained to find a new outlet for her creativity. Mandi loves taking statement pieces that have seen better days and breathing new life into them, with a pop of colour and some beautiful new fabric. She is instinctively drawn to butterflies, flowers and plants in blue, green and purple tones, but also likes geometric shapes. Having lived abroad, she also loves Mediterranean, North African and Chinese-inspired designs. Recent commissions include: Transforming a small bedroom chair by replacing the tired, worn fabric with a warm navy wool and matching piping Decorating a treasured family sewing box with tapestry panels sewn by the client, so that it can be used and enjoyed again for many more years Re-covering the drop-in seat of a beautifully-carved antique chair in a new, modern geometric fabric, and making some matching scatter cushions Mandi understands how personal, emotive and sentimental the craft of upholstery can be when bringing beloved items back to life. Quality, honesty and integrity are at the core of what she does, and she loves sharing in others’ precious memories and stories. By selecting the most appropriate upholstery techniques and materials for each project, and choosing the right fabrics, she can transform a dated, worn chair, footstool, headboard or ottoman into a beautiful statement focal point.
